Drain Jetting Belmont

Drain jetting in Belmont blasts blockages out of a pipe with high-pressure water, clearing sand, grease and root masses without touching the pipe wall. You get a fixed price after a look at the line, and you can book one by ringing your local plumber in Belmont or sending the form below.

What a jetter clears that a plunger cannot

A plunger moves whatever is sitting right at the fixture. A jetter scours the whole length of the pipe, which matters when the problem is spread along the line rather than parked in one spot. The common culprits on our run:

  • Sand and fine sediment settling along the pipe floor, a fixture of drains on this sandy peninsula
  • Grease and soap build-up narrowing kitchen and laundry lines over the years
  • Root masses threaded into cracked joints on older earthenware runs
  • Silt washed in after a storm surcharges a low-lying line

How we jet a drain

The booking runs to a set sequence, so you know what happens on the day:

  1. 01

    Find the access point

An inspection opening, a gully or a cleared boundary trap gives the hose its way in.

  2. 02

    Look before you blast

The camera goes in first to show what is blocking the line and what the pipe is made of, which sets the pressure we run.

  3. 03

    Jet the line

The nozzle walks the full run, cutting the blockage and flushing it back toward the opening so nothing gets pushed deeper.

  4. 04

    Film it clean

The camera goes back in so you can watch water running freely and check the clay walls for cracks the jetter uncovered.

If the footage reveals a crack rather than a clog, pipe relining repairs the pipe from the inside without a trench. The full drain service range sits on the parent page.

What drives the price of jetting?

It costs nothing to get us out to your door (excluding after-hours).

For jetting, the price comes down to how much hose goes in and what it has to shift:

  • Pipe length and access Forty metres of hose fed from a back gully costs more time than a short kitchen branch.
  • What is in the pipe A grease plug clears faster than a root mass packed into an earthenware joint.
  • Depth and ground Deep runs on low sandy blocks take more setup than shallow ones.

Why does sand choke drains on this peninsula?

Belmont is built on sand between the lake and the sea, and groundwater carries fine grains through every tired joint. So a slow drain here is often packed with silt, not blocked by one solid object.

A jetter flushes rather than pokes. It strips the fine stuff off the full length of the line instead of cutting a hole through it. Around Belmont Lagoon, where the ground sits barely above the water line, older drainage runs take on groundwater steadily, and the grit it brings forms a bed in the bottom of the pipe that thickens with every wet season.

The same pressure cuts through root masses where the mid-century earthenware pipes have cracked, and the after-footage tells us whether a camera inspection points to a repair or whether the line is simply clean again.

"We talked through the options of our blocked kitchen sink drain (not just an s bend problem) and came to the perfect long term solution at a reasonable price." Debbie

When we're not the right call

Jetting only reaches your own pipes. A choke in the shared street sewer is the water authority's to clear, so the plumber passes that on to them. And a toilet blocked by a dropped toy usually needs a simple auger, not a jetter.

Drain jetting questions we hear

Will jetting damage old clay pipes in Belmont?

No. Older earthenware lines on the peninsula get a gentler setting than newer PVC, and the camera look first shows how brittle the clay is before any water goes through it.

How often should a drain be jetted near the Belmont foreshore?

There is no set schedule. Low sandy blocks that take sand and groundwater through old joints tend to need another jet sooner than homes on higher ground, so we judge it from what the camera shows rather than a calendar.

Does jetting clear tree roots or just push them back?

It cuts the root mass back so the line runs freely again, but roots regrow into the same crack. If the footage shows a fractured joint, pipe relining seals the entry point so the roots stay out.

Do you use chemicals with the jetter?

No. The jetter does the work with water pressure alone, which suits lines running through sandy ground near the lake where anything harsher ends up in the water table.
